Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are applauded all over the world for the energy and joy they convey to the audience when they are on stage. Their unique voices and performance skills have been compared to the voices of the greatest classical soloists. It is no coincidence that they are called "boys with angelic voices" and that they are designated heirs of the three legendary tenors, José Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.
IL VOLO brought the beauty of classical music, traditional opera and Italian bel canto back to the attention of live concert lovers around the world, providing continuity to classical music and attracting young people to this musical genre.
Gianluca Ginoble, Ignazio Boschetto and Piero Barone started their careers at the age of 14 when they appeared in a TV show. The producer of that TV show reunited them in a trio and chose their stage name - IL VOLO. Thanks to their amazing talent, the artists have shared the stage with some of the greatest international artists, such as Barbra Streisand, Bono, Carlos Santana or Eros Ramazzoti. They are the only Italian performers who were invited to participate in "We Are The World" For Haiti, in 2010, along with 80 other world stars.
With five studio albums they have received the platinum disc and obtained two nominations for the Grammy Awards.
In 2015, they won the Sanremo contest with their song Grande Amore and represented Italy at Eurovision. Then, they released the album "Notte Magica - a tribute to the three tenors", Carreras - Domingo - Pavarotti, and in 2016 and 2017 they held a world tour recording an unprecedented success. Their opening concert in Florence is supported by Placido Domingo himself and was shown in 500 cinemas in Italy and around the world.
One of the most recent albums of the band Il VOLO – Musica, with the song Musica Che Resta, conquered the audience of Sanremo, being yet another proof of their boundless success. The album was in the Top 10 best-selling albums on iTunes in 14 countries – Malta, Brazil, Israel and many others, being the second best-selling album in Japan, after Bohemian Rhapsody.
Favorites of Pope Francis, the trio was invited, at the beginning of 2019, to participate in the 26th edition of the World Youth Day in Panama; here they performed "Ave Maria" in front of over a million spectators.
