About the new album, Il Volo says: "Ad Astra is the record that celebrates 15 years of making music together and is our first album of original songs: it is a very important milestone for us and we are very happy with the work we have done together with an exceptional team of writers and producers who have created the songs for us both musically and lyrically. Over the years we have all evolved, bringing with us our own personalities and passions. The result is Ad Astra, a project that showcases our different personal and vocal nuances, proving that diversity is the spark that ignites. We can't wait to see our fans from all over the world again and to finally perform our new unreleased tracks live!"

Over 300 concerts worldwide

The Italian tenor vocal trio IL VOLO, managed by Michele Torpedine, who also discovered and managed Andrea Bocelli for 16 years, is composed of Piero Barone, Ignazio Boschetto and Gianluca Ginoble. IL VOLO is critically acclaimed and considered one of the biggest names in classical crossover pop music worldwide. A favorite of Pope Francis, the trio was invited in early 2019 to take part in the 26th World Youth Day in Panama; here they performed "Ave Maria" in front of over one million spectators. Since 2009, IL VOLO has performed over 300 concerts on all continents. They have performed in the most prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Radio City Music Hall in New York and Arena di Verona in Italy. Piero, Ignazio and Gianluca are applauded all over the world as "the boys with the angelic voices" and designated heirs to the three legendary tenors José Carreras, Placido Domingo and Luciano Pavarotti.

Guests at the GRAMMY Museum

The trio formed in 2009 after individually competing on the singing reality show "Ti Lascio una Canzone", which they won. They quickly gained popularity in Europe and appeared on Quincy Jones' charity single "We Are the World: 25 for Haiti", along with 80 other world stars. Their debut album was released in 2011 and peaked at number 10 on the Billboard 200, featuring a mix of standards, classic Italian songs and material by contemporary composers such as Diane Warren. In 2012 they released a live album and second studio album, We Are Love, and in 2013 the holiday-themed Buon Natale: The Christmas Album. Il Volo won the Big Artist Award at the prestigious Sanremo Music Festival in Italy, which earned them triple platinum in Italy with their latest EP and contributed to their sold-out summer tour. When they released the album "Grande Amore", which features a mix of original and classic songs, IL VOLO hit the charts in Italy, Switzerland, Spain, Belgium and the United States. On the occasion of this album, the GRAMMY Museum invited them to the Clive Davis Theater for an intimate conversation about their career and album, as well as a performance, hosted by Scott Goldman, Vice President of the GRAMMY Foundation and MusiCares.
